When children need a test at the cardiology department it can be helpful to watch our videos to see what happens during heart tests such as ECG, Echo and the Exercise Tolerance Test (Stress Test). We also show step by step what happens when a child needs a 24 hours ambulatory ECG (heart monitor) or a cardiorespiratory sleep study. We developed a video with ideas for pretend play to help younger children play their teddy is having an ECG. We filmed teenagers with a heart condition talking about their surgery, scar, worries, piercings, tattoos and plans for the future. Children who are prepared for a hospital procedure feel less anxious, more in control and are better able to complete the tests.
