Play is a helpful way to prepare younger children and young people with learning difficulties for their visit to hospital and to reduce anxiety. Our videos show play ideas to prepare younger children and young people with learning difficulties for an EEG, ECG, X-ray, Ultrasound, MRI, CT, general anaesthetic and getting a cannula. We show creative ideas you can use at home: pizza boxes are CT scanners, jelly to do an ultrasound scan and pieces of string and stickers for an ECG. The video filmed in the Teddy Hospital in Glasgow shows how the play specialist helps to prepare a boy who is very anxious for his blood test.
