Therapies
Babies and children might need an appointment with physiotherapy services, occupational therapists or speech and language therapists. It can be helpful for parents of babies and children to watch our videos to see what will happen at the appointment and to prepare questions for their appointment. Our videos show the videofluoroscopy swallow study, babies treatment for club foot and hip checks to diagnose hip dysplasia and the hip harness used to correct any issues. We also filmed children with Juvenile Arthritis (JIA) having physiotherapy and children with Cerebral Palsy having a physiotherapy assessment and receiving Botulinum Toxin injections to reduce muscle spasticity. Children and parents who are prepared for hospital procedures feel less anxious, more in control and are better able to complete the tests and treatments.
Newborn babies have their hips checked for hip dysplasia. If a problem is found they can be treated with a hip harness.
